Lunglei’s six constituencies record 98,808 electors as poll roll revision continues

Lunglei district in Mizoram has 98,808 registered electors across its six Assembly Constituencies — Lunglei North, Lunglei East, Lunglei West, Lunglei South, Thorang and West Tuipui — according to the Draft Electoral Roll published on 4 July 2026 under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026. The figure includes 48,918 male voters, 49,890 female voters and 478 service voters.

Electoral Roll Observer Dr Lalhriatzuali Ralte, IAS, visited Lunglei on 8 July 2026 to review progress on the revision. A review meeting at the DC Conference Hall was chaired by Deputy District Election Officer Pi Zoramdini, with Election Officer Pi Lalhruaitluangi briefing attendees on the draft roll’s status. Election officials, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, the District Media Nodal Officer and representatives of political parties and civil society groups attended.

Dr Ralte, who also serves as Secretary of Mizoram’s Labour, Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department and CEO of the Mizoram State Health Care Society, said her visit aimed to assess progress and report observations to the Election Commission of India. She noted Lunglei’s status as one of Mizoram’s largest districts sharing an international border, calling for extra vigilance during the revision process.

She urged that only eligible Indian citizens be included in the rolls, that all eligible persons aged 18 and above be enrolled, and that no eligible voter be excluded, while encouraging greater use of the Voter Helpline App. She also reviewed SIR-related records during her visit.

Applications for new enrolment, correction, residence shifts and other updates can be submitted until 4 August 2026. The final electoral roll for Lunglei district is scheduled for publication on 6 September 2026.
